New Leaf Triangle 5 Year Anniversary!

September 16, 2019

In September 2014 New Leaf Triangle CIC first opened. This month marks our 5 year anniversary and so much has been achieved!

NLT started out with Lorraine and a small handful of clients, including families and one part time education student. We were supported through the first couple of years by some great volunteers and behind the scenes work from the other directors. Troy still worked full time elsewhere at this time so spent his evenings and weekends supporting NLT family sessions and developing the environment into what is is today.

Now NLT supports many students each week on alternative education programmes, delivers so many more activities and courses and has an outstanding staff team. The environment has developed beyond recognition and we opened our new site last year. We have completed lots of work on developing the quality of our provision in terms of education, pastoral support and new activities that we can offer. We have welcomed Jeanette to the Director team who has helped with the NLT business from the start, we are so pleased to have her on board.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the course of the last 5 years, including family members and friends who have volunteered, local groups who have offered grants, our loyal customers and partners and most of all our amazing staff and animal team! I would particularly like to thank Lorraine and Troy for all of the hard work that goes on in the evenings, weekends and holidays behind the scenes to make NLT what it is.

Fund Raising At Chef & Spice

June 26, 2018

New Leaf's fundraising meal and raffle at Chef & Spice in Leicester raised a very good sum of £639 for our Family Support Fund to subsidise sessions and camps for families with children with autism, ADHD, mental health conditions and disabilities - supporting the whole family. Thanks very much to Chef & Spice for very generously donating £9 a head, and to everyone who came to the meal!

Well Done James!

June 07, 2018

We would like say a massive thank you to James who raised an amazing amount of money for New Leaf Triangle by running the 2018 London Marathon. We can't thank James enough for doing this for New Leaf and the families that will benefit from the money that has been raised! It was especially nice to meet James at New Leaf today so we could show him a little bit of the work we do. Running the marathon takes a huge amount of dedication, commitment and sheer guts and determination. James started his training back in October 2017 when he found out he had been successful in his application to run. Many miles were pounded to get to peak physical fitness before the marathon, which was particularly challenging this year due to the heat. All we can say is "James you are a legend"!

London Marathon Run

February 20, 2018

James Abbot, a local supporter of New Leaf Triangle, will be running the London Marathon in April to raise funds for our family support fund. The money raised will be used to subsidise family sessions, play schemes and summer camps and will be greatly appreciated by families with children of all ages with autism, ADHD, mental health conditions and social and emotional difficulties. It will be of direct benefit to the families themselves, helping more children to access our services! Please support James by donating on his Just Giving page.

Good Luck James!

New Site Completed

December 20, 2017

Our new site comprising an American barn with six internal stables, and a 20m x 40m manège is now complete. The barn was built in June and the manège has just been completed by Mark Robinson (M Robinson Contracting) and Steve Mound (Steve Mound Fencing) who have made a first-class job! The new facilities will be invaluable during our busy spring and summer period. For more photos of the building process check out our Facebook page.

NLT gains BHS Approval

December 10, 2017

New Leaf Triangle has been working towards offering the ‘Changing Lives Through Horses Programme’ through the British Horses Society (BHS) for a number of months and it has taken considerable capital expenditure and time to be in a position to offer the course.

New Leaf Triangle’s facilities been approved by the British Horse Society as a Riding Establishment, through a rigorous inspection of our premises, covering working practices, health and safety, horses and observation of Troy's instructing. Troy has worked hard to meet the various stringent criteria to become recognised as a BHS accredited professional coach.

To learn more about the inspirational ‘Changing Lives Programme’ visit the BHS website.

Fund Raising Successes

July 31, 2017

A big THANK YOU to everyone who supported our fundraising meal at Chef and Spice, Leicester. The meal and the raffle raised a whopping £720.00 for our family support fund. This will be used to subsidise the cost of family activities this summer, and along with the funds raised from Hannah Billington's sky dive of £816.50, it should take us into next spring. Thanks very much also to those who donated raffle prizes - the raffle made over £100 alone!
Thanks especially to Chef and Spice who were amazingly generous donating £9 per head out of £15 for their 'all you can eat' Indian buffet. A great restaurant with great food - please support them too by going back!
We hope to hold this event again next year!

Fund Raising Sky Dive

May 14, 2017

Hannah Billington, one of New Leaf Triangle’s team of dedicated Session Leaders, will be making a skydive jump in order to raise money to help subsidise family sessions over the coming summer months. The jump will take place on June 25th from Langar Airfield and Hannah is hoping to raise at least £400.

Please support Hannah by donating on her Just Giving page.

Planning Approved for New Site

April 06, 2017

We are very excited to announce that New Leaf Triangle has been awarded planning permission by Melton Borough Council, for development of a new site just off Waltham Road, a few hundred yards away from our existing premises.

The approval is for a wooden American-style barn with six internal stables either side of a central passageway, together with a ménage, which will be fully fenced and surfaced with a suitable all weather material. The permission includes an extension to the car parking facilities and improvements to the road access.

The American barn will be supplied and built by Broadfield Stables and will look much like the one pictured. Groundwork is expected to commence at the end of this month, with completion of the stable buildings scheduled for around the middle of May. This new site will enable us to extend our provision, allowing us to cater for a wider range of adults, children, and young people, as well as accommodate the new horse archery training facilities. The extra facilities will allow us to further develop our employability and work-skills training programme, with additional horse care, animal care, and conservation training courses.

New Leaf Triangle welcomes our latest work placement student, Sophie Chapeleau

February 10, 2017

The Team at New Leaf Triangle is looking forward to welcoming Sophie Chapeleau, who will shortly be joining us on a work experience placement. Sophie lives in France and is currently studying at L’Ecole Franco-Canadienne de Médiation Animale (EFCMA).

Sophie writes: "I am a French nurse who specialises mainly in psychiatric work with teenagers. This year I am studying Animal Assisted Therapy. I have a love for all animals and have ridden since I was very young. I have travelled throughout the world and I am always looking for new adventures. To be part of New Leaf Triangle for a month is a wonderful opportunity and I am sure I will learn a great deal from this experience."

Sophie joins New Leaf Triangle in March and we sincerely hope she enjoys her time with us!
