New Leaf Triangle (cic) is a registered Open Awards Centre, providing Functional English and maths vocational qualifications as well as other vocational courses:

Functional Skills - Maths and English

We offer Entry Level 1 through to Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) qualifications through Open Awards.

This programme can be studied as a combined maths and English programme, or as single subject only. Learners develop maths and English skills that are relevant and useful in everyday life and the world of work. There are a multitude of practical activities that students can take part in (planned around their strengths and interests) which develop these functional skills. Learners will need to sit exams at the end of the course, but we are able to cater well for reasonable adjustments and offer a calm 1:1 environment, such as a log cabin, with the company of a special animal for the exam, if needed.

Employability and Professional Development

This course is offered from Entry Level 1 through to Level 1 as an Award or Certificate, depending on how many units are completed.

The course is for learners looking to develop their employability skills such as writing a CV, job seeking, using ICT, job applications, team working, citizenship, interview skills, writing, time management and leadership skills. Work experience can also be sourced and be accessed as part of the course.

It can include working with the small animals such as rabbits, Guinea pigs, dogs, chickens, ducks and geese or the farm animals, such as goats and pigs This qualification offers a platform to move on to further learning at the next level or employment in the sector.
